For the following brief, students were expected to create an integrated artefact based on a song of their choice. 

"Blue Eyes" by Springbok Nude Girls is a 90s South African alt-rock anthem. I aimed to flesh out the visuals to my own interpretation of the song, one which alluded to the power of a loving relationship in the face of a troubled domestic life. 

Thus, the lyrics of "Blue Eyes" drove the imagery and aesthetic of my EP design through the use of scanography, tritones, and strong haunting visuals which matched the at times desperate, at times furious, but always hopeful, lyrics of the Nude Girls. 

I stepped way out of my comfort zone for this project. Straying far from the comforts of illustration and digital mockups, I utilised photography and physical mockups to really convey the look and feel of 90's SA alternative rock.

I departed from bright, primary colour palettes to a more subdued, grunge one. I contrasted abstract and soft scanned bodies with saturated red nails and piercing blue irises to create a tactile look and feel of "Blue Eyes" - all to produce a project which is still very close to my heart.
